Trump orders airstrikes on Houthi rebels in Yemen and warns Iran to stop supporting them

President Donald Trump said he ordered a series of air strikes in the capital of Yemen, SANA, on Saturday, and promised to use “overwhelming deadly power” until the Iranian -backed Houthi rebels stop their shipment along a vital marine corridor. The Houthis said that 13 civilians were killed.

“Our brave men are currently the air attacks on the bases of terrorists, leaders and missile defenses to protect American origins, air, naval, and restoring navigational freedom,” Trump said as social media. “No terrorist force will prevent American commercial and naval ships from sailing freely in the world’s waterways.”

Iran also warned against stopping the support of the rebel group, and promised the country completely responsible for the actions of its agent. This comes two weeks after the American leader sent a message to Iranian leaders who are presenting a way to restart bilateral talks between countries in the advanced nuclear weapons program in Iran. Trump said he would not be allowed to operate.

The Houthis reported explosions in their lands on Saturday evening, in SANA and in the northern province of Sada, the stronghold of the rebels on the border with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Online photos showed columns of black smoke over the SANA airport complex area, which includes a sprawling military facility.

Anis Al -Ashayi, a spokesman for the Houthi Ministry of Health, said that at least 13 people were killed. In a statement on social media, he said that nine wounded.

Nasruddin Amer, Vice -President of the Houthi Information Office, said that the air strikes will not deter them and that they will be discussed against the United States, “Sana will remain the shield and support of Gaza and will not abandon them regardless of challenges.”

Another spokesman, Mohamed Abdel -Am, called on X, called Trump that the Houthis threaten international shipping routes “wrong and misleading.”

The air strikes come a few days after the Houthis said that they will resume attacks on Israeli ships sailing off Yemen in response to the latest siege of Israel in Gaza. They described the warning as affecting the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, the Strait of Bab Mandab and the Arab Sea.

There have been no reported Houthi attacks since then.

Earlier this month, Israel stopped all the aid coming to Gaza and warned of “additional consequences” for Hamas if the fragile ceasefire in the war was not extended with negotiations continuing the start of the second stage.

The Houthis targeted more than 100 commercial ships with missiles and drones, drowned two ships and killed four sailors, during their campaign targeting military and civil ships between the beginning of the war between Israel and Hamas in late 2023 and January this year, when this stopped in Gaza.

Personal attacks have sparked the Houthis, as they faced economic problems and other problems at home amid a Yemeni war of a decade, whose horizon is tearing in the Arab world.

The Houthi Information Office said that the American strikes hit a residential neighborhood in the Shama area in the north of Shana. Residents said that at least four air strikes rocked the eastern neighborhood of Gerav there, women and terrifying children.

Abdullah Al -Halaf said: “The explosions were very strong.” “It was like the earthquake.”

Eastern Geraf is home to the Houthi -controlled military facilities and headquarters of the rebel political office, located in a densely populated area.

The United States, Israel and Britain have previously struck the Houthi -controlled areas in Yemen. The Israel Army refused to comment.

But Saturday was performed by the United States only, according to an American official. This was the first strike on the Houthis in Yemen as part of the second Trump administration.

These broad missile strikes were carried out against the Houthis several times by the Biden administration in response to repeated Houthi attacks against commercial and military ships in the region.

The USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group collection, which includes the transportation company, three maritime destroyers and one volunt, in the Red Sea and was part of the Saturday mission. The Cruise US Georgia missile submarine also operates in the area.

Trump announced the strikes today at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Trump said: “These unnecessary attacks have cost the American economy and the United States several billion dollars, while at the same time Trump is at the same time, at the same time,” Trump said.
