Trump praises Saudi Arabia in first stop on Middle East trip

President Donald Trump praised the progress towards peace across the Middle East in a speech in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, and urged the region to follow economic development instead of the “self -destructive” path for Iran.

Trump made comments during a speech in Riyadh shortly after his meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Trump pledged to continue America’s strong partnership with the Saudi government and also condemned the “interventional” Western policies that brought a catastrophe in the Middle East.

Trump said: “If the responsible countries in this region capture at this moment, put your differences aside and focus on the interests that unite you, then all humanity will be restored soon from what we will see here in the geographical center of the world, and the spiritual heart of its greatest religions.”

“In front of our eyes, a new generation of leaders exceeds ancient conflicts and tiring divisions in the past, forging a future where the Middle East is defined through trade, not chaos, as technology is issued, not terrorism; and since people from different countries, religions and drugs are built together, not bombing each other.”
