President Donald Trump praised British Prime Minister Kiir, who was accused of curbing illegal immigrant boats crossing the English channel, and the UK leader told he was doing “something wonderful.”
Trump stopped questions with Starmer and his wife, Victoria Starmer, before meeting at Trump Turnberry Golf Club in Scotland on Monday.
“Migration is great, a big factor. I think, frankly, if they are coming from other countries, and you do not know who they are, and do they come from prisons? “Last month, we had zero to the country, zero, unlike reaching legal means.”
“You are doing nothing good, you are doing something great,” Trump added. So I don’t know anything about boats. But if the boats are loaded with bad people, usually, because, as you know, other countries do not send their best effort, they send people who do not want them, they are not stupid people. They send people who do not want. I heard that you took a much stronger position. “

In June, Customs and US Border Protection (CBP) reported the lowest monthly monthly of illegal border confrontations in the agency’s history. Patrol border made 6,072 fears along the southwestern border, which reflects a 93 % decrease in illegal meetings recorded during the same month last year under the leadership of the administration of former President Joe Biden. The Trump administration issued illegal foreign zero for the conditional release in the American interior – compared to 27,766 it was released in June 2024 under Biden.
Starmer told the correspondents on Monday that the government of the Labor Party has facilitated the removal of about 35,000 people from the United Kingdom since the authority in July 2024.
“We are very happy that we continue to return people who have no right to be here,” Starmer said.
“This is great. As a person loves this country – I love this country,” Trump replied, noting that his mother was born in Scotland. “It is an incredible place, a beautiful place. If this is the case, congratulate you.”
Trump said Europe was “a much different place” from what it was five to 10 years ago due to mass migration.
“They must collect their business together. If they don’t do it, you will not have Europe anymore as you know. And you can’t do it. This is a great part of the world. You can’t destroy it,” Trump said.
“You cannot allow people to get here illegally,” Trump continued. “And what happens is that there will be killers, there will be drug traders, and there will be all kinds of things that other countries do not want. They send them to you, send them to us, and you have to stop them. I hear that you have taken a very strong position on immigration and take a strong stance of migration.
Trump announces a trade agreement with the European Union
Their meeting comes on Monday, following Trump, the framework of a major trade agreement with the European Union. The deal does not focus on immigration, but it has wider effects regarding the American economic pressure on the bloc.
At a press conference in London earlier this month, Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron announced a “one in one, one” deal aimed at deterring the crossings of immigrant channels. The UK “Pilot” scheme will allow the detention of immigrants who have reached its beaches in small boats from France. On the other hand, Starmer agreed to accept the same number of immigrants from France who did not try to enter the United Kingdom illegally and who consider legitimate asylum claims.
Starmer faces increasing political pressure to provide his promise in his campaign to decline tens of thousands of immigrants from the English channel.
Small boat crossings have increased by more than 50 % since January compared to the same time period last year, according to the data of the British Ministry of the Interior.
Last week, the Starmer government revealed what the “first in the world” sanctions system that targets migratory gangs and other entities that facilitate small boat crossings. British Foreign Secretary David Lami said that the plan that aims to flow money, small boat suppliers and fake passports provides the authorities to the authorities to freeze assets, cut the perpetrators from the UK financial system and ban criminals to travel to the United Kingdom

After winning the work elections last year, Starmer ended a controversial policy under the former governorate government that allowed deportation to Rwanda for immigrants who crossed an illegal channel. To replace it, British Interior Minister YVette Coper launched a new border security security in the United Kingdom. It aims to better follow an enforcement and intelligence approach to boundary protection, identify new small boats and disrupt migrant smuggling.
