Trump raises Canada tariff to 35% over fentanyl imports starting Friday

President Donald Trump increases the tariff for Canada from 25 % to 35 % starting from Friday, after the American neighbor failed to the north to help reduce the imports of fentanel and other illegal drugs.

The United States also concluded a deal with Japan, which has agreed to invest $ 550 billion in the United States to rebuild and expand American basic industries. Japan also agreed to strengthen its American exports market, such as the European Union, and Japan agreed to pay a 15 % basic tariff.

A list of mutual definitions modified by the White House shows that Syria will face a 41 % tariff, while tariff fees will be imposed by 40 %.

Switzerland will be asked to pay a 39 % tariff; Accusing Serbia and Iraq will be 35 %. Fees will be imposed on Algeria, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Libya and South Africa, a 30 % tariff.

The White House said that Trump uses customs tariffs as “a necessary and strong tool for the situation of America first after many years of baseless trade deficit that threatens our economy and national security.”

One threat to the United States is the flow of fentanel from both Mexico and Canada.
