Trump sets terms for Harvard to address antisemitism in order to keep federal funding

First on the fox: The Trump administration has set new prior conditions for Harvard to combat anti -Semitism in exchange for reaching federal financing.

In a letter addressed to the President of Harvard University Din Garper, senior administration officials claimed that Harvard “failed to protect students and American faculty members from anti -Semitic violence and harassment” in violation of the Civil Rights law.

“American taxpayers are invested greatly in American colleges and universities, including Harvard University,” a message signed by Josh Grinbom, a federal acquisition commissioner in Public Services Department, Sean Kevini, Acting General Adviser to the Ministry of Health and Humanitarian Services and Thomas Wheeler, Acting Acting Acting at the Ministry of Education.

“The government has a responsibility to ensure that all beneficiaries of the beneficiaries of the taxpayers’ funds,” the memo, obtained by the Fox News Digital, read.

The message stipulates that Harvard should prevent the use of masks that can hide identities in the protests and develop a “time, place and way” policy clearly for the protests. Harvard University must also eliminate all diversity, shares and integration programs (Dei), adopt “merit -based acceptance”, repair employment and end any acceptance on the basis of race or national origin.

The university must abide by “full cooperation” with the Ministry of Internal Security and all other agencies in the government, according to the message.

He also said that Harvard University should review and make changes to programs and departments that “feed anti -Semitic harassment”, cooperate with law enforcement. All recognized and non -recognized students should take responsibility for political violations and ensure that senior administration officials are responsible for disciplinary decisions.

The three federal agencies – HHS, GSA and ED – announced last week a review of about $ 8 billion in “multi -year grant obligations” as part of the investigation launched by the Federal Action Squad to combat anti -Semitism.

The review also includes about $ 255 million of contracts.

“The message is clear: the reform is not optional,” the work group told Fox News Digital when it was reached for comment.

“The elite escaping era has ended. With billions of dollars in tax dollars at stake, Harvard University must either face its institutional failures-including its inability to protect students from anti-Semitism-or risk of losing financing.”

A university spokesman told Fox News Digital:

Garbar said earlier this week that Harvard will interact with the work band “to ensure that they have a full account of the work we have done and the procedures that we will do forward to combat anti -Semitism.”

“There is a lot at the test here. In a long -term partnership with the federal government, we launched and sponsored the justified research that made countless people more healthy, safer, more curious, more knowledgeable, improve their lives, societies, and our world,” said Garper. “But we are not perfect. Enthusiastic is a critical problem that we must continue to address.”

Weeks ago, the Trump administration regained more than $ 400 million from Columbia University, calling for changes to disciplinary policy and putting some programs under administrative control.

Colombia seized many of the three demands of the agencies – which prompted a violent reaction from the liberal critics – and the university replaced its temporary president, Katrina Armstrong.

The University Board of Trustees denied that they wandered in the administration, and described the new changes as “the decisions that depend on Colombia have been taken in accordance with our values and mission.”

The trustees wrote: “Where this work is in line with the recommendations of others, we believe that constructive dialogue is logical.”

Meanwhile, the Trump administration has targeted international students studying at the universities of the United States and participated in Gaza’s protests that they say in land.

Trump has signed an executive order on January 30 to combat the explosion of anti -Semitism in our deprivation and our streets “since October 7, 2023, and since then the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has canceled about 300 visas, and many of them have been kept by university students.

“If you apply for a visa to enter the United States and be a student, and tell us that the reason you come to the United States not only because you want to write the two articles, but because you want to participate in the movements that participate in doing things like freezing universities, I am harassing the buildings, and creating what is doing our best, I do not rely on ever.”

The Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University, Dean of Hobby Husera, said this week that the administration is working on an emergency plan in the event of federal financing discounts.

“I know this news is unusually worrying and that it is difficult to address,” said Harvard Crimson. “There are some important works that we can do, and we only, we can do now: maintain the continuity of our educational mission and research.”

Harvard University and Colombia were among the 10 universities that the work group said was retreating. Harvard University has already settled a freezing recruitment for a review, given the uninterrupted financing environment.
