Trump tariffs – Trump tariffs: Jaishankar, US State Secy Marco Rubio discuss bilateral trade, reciprocal tariffs

Trump’s tariff: The Minister of Foreign Affairs C. Jeishkar and Rubio also discussed the 26 percent definitions imposed by the Trump administration and how the two sides can update a “fair and balanced commercial relationship.”

India is said to be one of the only countries to follow a bilateral trade agreement with the United States. According to a report published in MINT, India is now exploring a plan to negotiate the suspension of 26 percent definitions by the United States until the BTA agreement is completed this year.

Jaishankar and Rubio also discussed the importance of BTA’s completion early, as tweets by the Foreign Minister. “Exchanging views about the Indian Pacific Ocean, the Indian continent, Europe, the Middle East/West Asia, and the Caribbean Sea region,” said Jayishkar.

Meanwhile, the USTR trading representative (USTR) highlighted India’s ban on American ethanol imports as a “unfair business practice”.

The Jaishankar and Rubio conversation comes at the background of the PIYOUUHG GOYAL, accusing China of increasing its economic growth through unfair commercial practices. He stated that the rise of China was supported by distorted pricing, mysterious benefits, and work practices that violate global trade standards.

Joyal stressed the need for reforms to restore balance and fairness in international trade, especially given the ongoing disturbances in the stock market. He said that China’s growing dominance in global trade is warning that it negatively affects economies such as India. He warned that without corrective measures to address these imbalances, the world may face deeper economic hardship.

India and the United States talks come amid an escalating trade war between the United States and China. After Trump’s tariff of 34 percent of China, the latter announced a 34 percent similar mutual tariff. Trump said an additional duty will be imposed by 50 percent on Chinese imports if they are not recovering mutual definitions.

China said it will not give up to blackmail from the United States. “The US team’s threat to escalating definitions against China is a mistake in addition to an error, as it again revealed the nature of the Tabet for American strikes. If the United States insists on its way, China will fight to the end.”
