Trump’s historic DC police takeover nets over 240 arrests in crime crackdown

A White House official told Fox News that the Trump administration campaign for violent crime in Washington, DC, has already recorded more than 240 arrests and took 38 rifles of streets.
The force of the force invaded the gang members, the suspects in the robbery and the immigration violations. On Friday alone, 52 people were arrested, including 28 illegal immigrants, while three rifles were seized.
Federal teams also wiped 25 homeless camp, and officials said this removal had been implemented without confrontations or arrests.

The White House Chief of Staff of Stephen Miller praised the size of operations and said that the numbers were “breathtaking.”
“We have seen a record number of violent criminals, bad guys, gang members and all kinds of threats to public safety outside the streets as well as their illegal weapons that they used to intimidate the citizens of this city,” said Fox News Live.
“In addition, we have seen more than 70 homeless camps who distorted, dismantled, dismantled, and threw them, and cleansing the homeless from these standards.

The operation began quietly on August 7, with the launch of the “Make DC Safe and Beautiful” work band created by President Donald Trump in March through an executive order.
Its escalation on August 11 by temporarily seizing federal control of the Metropolitan Police Administration (MPD) under the emergency law of the House of Home base, the first such step in the history of the United States.
A woman was shot dead in the “safe” neighborhood of the capital, where Trump fired a federal police.
The matter puts MPD under federal power for up to 30 days, unless the congress extends, and 800 National Guard soldiers have been deployed.
In all, 22 multi -agent teams were deployed with more than 1,800 individuals in all seven police areas, where the president pledged to “restore our capital”.
“We have very unsafe capital … something outside of control. But we will put it in control very quickly,” Trump said on Monday.

Other arrests included drug distribution, arms violations and suspended orders. The police also detained the suspects accused of escaping law enforcement, reckless leadership, attacking a dangerous weapon and kidnapping.
The National Guard in the capital carried out mobile patrols on foot and in the vehicles surrounding the National Commercial Center and the Federation Station last night. While they remain gunmen, officials emphasized that they are not arresting, instead securing federal assets and providing police coverage.
Trump began factors in the idea of federal law enforcement after the brutal multiplication of a previous government ministry employee (DOGE) during an alleged attempt in the Logan circle in Washington. Then he moved to the intensification of the repression campaign on Monday, called the Law of the Home Base.

Democrats and local officials, referring to MPD and the report of the US Prosecutor’s Office in the violent crime in its lowest level in 30 years, decreased 35 % from 2023 to 2024.
The FBI data for the same period shows a much lower decrease than about 9 %, highlighting a large gap between local and federal statistics. The contradiction stems from the differences in how to classify crimes and inform them of federal databases.

The mayor of the capital, Morel Boser, described the federal work as “worrying and unprecedented”, while the Democrats have made a joint decision in an attempt to put the brakes in the Federal Police seizure.
