Tyra Banks Accused Of ‘Gaslighting’ ‘ANTM’ Viewers In New Docuseries

Tyra Banks It’s no surprise that she’s been on top, breaking industry standards, and cementing herself as a prominent figure in pop culture. In 2003, Banks combined her love of modeling and television, and created the hit competition series “America’s Next Top Modelwhich saw two aspiring models living together in a house while competing in intense challenges that has since come under much scrutiny and criticism.

In Netflix’s new docuseries Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model, Tyra Banks, former judges Jay Manuel, J. Alexander and Nigel Parker, former contestants and winners sit down for a thrilling interview reflecting on the show’s “complicated history.”

Banks, 52, is the center of an upcoming Netflix docuseries, and she appears to be answering some tough questions about the show and its problematic and troubled history.

“I knew I went too far. It was very intense, but you were demanding it, so we kept pushing it, more and more,” Banks said in a clip from the series shared online.

For “ANTM” loyalists, the trailer will bring back intense emotions, as flashbacks from some of the series’ most shocking moments are shown throughout the nearly two-minute clip, reminding some viewers exactly why they were so upset to begin with.

According to a press release from Netflix, “America’s Next Top Model” was created by Banks, Ken Mok and Kenya Barris. The series ran for 24 seasons from 2003 to 2016, and at its peak attracted more than 100 million viewers.

Individuals began to question “ANTM’s” place in pop culture history during the COVID-19 pandemic, however, pointing to the production’s “radical haircuts and invasive dental surgeries.” The series has also received criticism for the judges’ harsh criticism of the contestants’ bodies.

The new series is directed by Moore Lucci and Daniel Sivan, known for their work on Netflix’s “American Manhunt: Osama Bin Laden,” and will feature exclusive interviews with Banks, Mock and former judges and contestants, including Whitney Thompson, Giselle Sampson, Shannon Stewart, Shandi Sullivan, Danny Evans, and Kenyah Hill.

The teaser for the upcoming docu-series ‘Reality Check’ sent a wave of excitement across social media, with many users taking to various platforms to express their excitement over Banks’ involvement in the project.

Other users wrote about how eager they were to hear Banks address some of the show’s more controversial moments.

However, others expressed frustration with the way Banks appeared in the teaser, noting her statement that she went “too far” because “you guys were asking for it.”

The comments were almost the same under another post promoting the new series.
