U.S. air travelers will have to have a REAL ID to fly, starting May 7, 2025

In less than a month, air passengers at American airports should have a real identity.

On Wednesday, the Transport Security Administration (TSA) reminded the public that starting from Wednesday, May 7, 2025, every air traveler from the air 18 years and over will need to obtain a driver’s license issued by the identification, education card, identity card or any other acceptable form of identity on an American commercial plane.

TSA said the real identity has a golden star in the upper right corner.

“With the entry of the upcoming federation to Real ID, exactly four weeks away, I can’t emphasize enough on the importance of preparing for travelers,” Federal Security Director at TSA KC Wurtsbake said in a statement.

“Take a few minutes now to determine the shape of the definition of images that you will use to check your identity the next time you travel on the air,” continued. “Even if you don’t have plans to travel by air now, your plans may change. Now is the time to make a plan.”

Once the implementation begins, TSA said that unprepared travelers who reach the TSA checkpoints should expect a delay.

Internal security pays the deadline for the real identifier until 2025

The deadline of the real identifier was returned as a result of the Covid-19 epidemic, and Americans were given two other years to obtain compatible driver licenses and identity cards.

The concept of the true identity came in the wake of terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. The September 11 Committee recommended that the federal government set standards for driver licenses and identity cards that the states and regions must meet.
