UK companies lag in ECCTA compliance readiness

A study by Vistra revealed that only 28 % of UK managers are ready for the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency law (ECCTA), although the smallest companies are the least prepared and there is no willingness.
ECCTA imposes identity verification for all directors, important persons (PSCS) and the company’s nursing by autumn 2025, but less than 3 % have complied so far.
ECCTA has been the most fundamental reform of the United Kingdom’s house since 1844, as it has provided strict requirements to verify identity and a new crime for its failure to prevent fraud.
Despite the imminent changes and the risk of unlimited fines, the Vestra scanned for 100 UK managers reveal that 39 % do not realize the ECCTA. Law enforcement can exclude company officers and prohibit companies from providing documents or engaging in acquisitions.
The largest practices showed a greater degree of willingness, as 37 % indicated that it was very ready and 49 % express its confidence in its operations to meet the requirements of “reasonable procedures” for the new crime. However, the feelings between companies are that ECCTA is exhausting, with 58 % that carries this opinion and only 23 % does not agree.
The global director of Vissstra Global Management Solutions Meg Ogunsola warns that many companies reduce and urge ECCTA scope estimate.
Ogunsola recommends that early behavior be it is very important to avoid integrity and severe financial penalties. She notes that House will adopt a strict position against non -compatible companies and highlight the need for alternative solutions to managers abroad and those that depend on paper documents.
“Given the scope of reforms and administrative burden, it is not surprising that we see many organizations seeking specialized support to ensure that their obligations are efficient and effectively.”
UK companies are delayed in the preparation of ECCTA, which was originally created by the International Accounting Bulletin, a brand owned by Globaldata.
