US-Canada border eyed as vulnerability by China, Russia, says Patel

Cash Patel, director of the FBI, told legislators on Wednesday that American opponents such as China and Russia began targeting the northern American borders with Canada.

During the testimony before the Intelligence Committee in the House of Representatives, Patel told the legislators that the “effective decision” of the crisis on the southern border caused their opponents such as China, Russia and Iran to change their resources to target the northern American borders.

“The enemy adapts,” Patel said.

While Patel pointed out that the opponents did not stop using the southern borders completely, the “huge effort” to secure the borders and prevent known terrorists or suspects from coming to the country made the transfer of people and materials, such as Fintanel, illegally more difficult since Donald Trump took office.

Patel’s comments come as Trump has a major shift on the southern American border since he took office in January, where the number of customs meetings and the protection of the American border (CBP) recorded 90 % confrontations in most sectors compared to the same time period last year.

This shift through the deployment of thousands of US military forces on the border, who helped CBP agents helped in all of the enhanced barriers to monitor potential illegal retirees.

The sudden silence comes on the southern border after a number of illegal crossings during the four years of the Biden Administration, a trend that has also witnessed a significant increase in the crossings of immigrants outside the north and Latin America.

Chinese citizens were likely to try illegal crossings, as the number of crossings from the country’s citizens increased to more than 24,000 in 2023, an increase of more than 5,200 % over 450 meetings just one year ago, according to CBP data.

In general, Patel told legislators that between 2022 and 2025, about 178,000 Chinese citizens tried to cross the southern border.

Patel has warned that the new security of the southern border can now open threats to the North, on the pretext that American opponents will use the same tactics that they previously used in sectors that do not receive much security attention.

The FBI did not immediately respond to the Fox News Digital request for comment.
