US eases financial restrictions on Syria with GL 25 waiver to stabilize country

On Friday, the Trump administration announced the relief of sanctions for Syria as part of a series of steps to end contracts for sanctions and stabilize the country.

The Treasury said it would give Syria a 180 -day concession, known as the GL 25, to alleviate the financial restrictions targeting former rulers in the country in an attempt to give its new leaders an opportunity to rebuild a nation that still explodes with more than a decade of the civil war.
