US energy production counters Iran’s threats to close Strait of Hormuz

Jeff Sika’s alternative investment founder interacts with markets after successful strikes in the United States on major nuclear weapons facilities.
Iran threatened to try to close one of the world’s most important oil lanes in response to the United States, which joined Israel in attacking Iranian nuclear facilities, but US energy production will limit the impact of such a step on the American economy.
Iranian government media has suggested that parliament in the country agreed to a possible plan that would see the Iranian military attempt to close the hormonal strait using sea mines, shipburn missiles, or other measures in seeking to achieve this goal. The Trump administration announced on Monday the potential ceasefire between Israel and Iran, which may lead to the stopping of the conflict after 12 days of strikes.
About one -fifth of the world’s daily consumption of oil movements across the Strait of Hormuz every day on the tankers, and with less than 30 miles, the shipping movement will be vulnerable to potential threats from Iran. In addition, about one -fifth of the global liquefied natural gas trade has also experienced a hormone strait in 2024, according to Energy Information Management (EIA).
In the midst of the potential threats of energy supplies in the Strait of Hormuz, the production of local energy in the United States helped reduce the dependence of the US economy on the source energy from the Middle East, and its isolation from potential price shocks and the worst possible scenarios in which increasing oil prices can be strangled by the economy.

“The Resurrection Day scenario, such as if you close the oil [shipments] Phil Flynn, the chief market analyst in the Price Vall Fort Group, said in an interview that predictions that rise to $ 100 a barrel may be correct in a world where you can already close the Strait of Hormuz.
“At the present time, I don’t think the market thinks this is possible,” said Flynn. “Perhaps Iran will not enjoy the ability to close the Strait of Hormuz. If they can close it for a measurable period, it may have a great impact. But I think this exercise that passed it just appears, it is unlikely that they can close it.”

Flynn went on to say that energy production in the United States has risen over the past decade and is now producing more than what it consumes – a flagrant contradiction with the past when the United States relied heavily on energy from the Middle East.
“The United States produces a record amount of oil,” Flynn said, noting that during the Islamic Revolution and the Iranian hostage crisis in 1979, the United States was more dependent on oil from the Middle East. “At that time, if they closed the Strait of Hormuz, it would be a devastating blow not only for our economy, but the global economy.”

“We are here after years, and although it is important – we still see 20 % of the global offer that passes through the hormone strait on a daily basis – it is almost no less in size as was the case, and the United States does not depend on it as we were. In fact, a lot of this oil said to China, which relies heavily on the supplies that pass by Hormuzm’s actress,” Flynn said.
Data from environmental impact evaluation shows that in 2024, the United States exported 6.9 British thermal units worth 30.9 Cadrellion, an increase of 4 % over the previous year, while power imports were flat at 21.7 cactuses. This left the United States with 9.3 -curtain exports – the highest registered level of net exports in the agency’s records dating back to 1949.
