OpenAI Teams Up With Oracle and SoftBank to Build 5 New Stargate Data Centers

Openai plans The company announced on Tuesday the construction of five new data centers in the United States as part of the Stargate initiative. The sites, which are developed in partnership with Oracle and SoftBank, reach the current Stargate planned capacity of approximately 7 GB-as much strength like seven large-scale nuclear reactors.
“Artificial intelligence is different from the Internet in several ways, but one of them is the amount of infrastructure that it takes,” Sam Altman, CEO of Openai, said at a press conference in Abylin, Texas on Tuesday. He said that the United States “cannot be behind this” and “the innovative spirit” of Texas provides a model for how to expand the “larger, fastest, cheapest and better scope.”
Three of the new sites, in the province of Shakelford, Texas; Donna Anna Province, New Mexico; A site has not yet been developed in the Middle West, in partnership with Oracle. This step follows an agreement that was announced Oracle and Openai in July to develop up to 4.5 GB of the American Data Center capacity in addition to what the two companies already adopt in the first Stargit facility in Abelene.
Openai claims that the new data centers, along with the planned expansion of 600 megawatts on the Abilene website, will create more than 25,000 jobs on the site, although the number of workers wanted to create data centers usually reduces the amount needed to keep them after that.
The remaining sites are managed by Openai and SB Energy, a subsidiary of Softbank that develops solar energy and batteries. These are located in Lardstown, Ohio, Melam County, Texas.
Stargate is one of the many major American technology infrastructure projects that have been announced since president Donald Trump took office at the beginning of the year. Openai said in January that the commitment of $ 500 billion and 10 Gigawat between Chatgpt, SoftBank, Oracle and MGX will “secure US leadership in artificial intelligence” and “create hundreds of thousands of American jobs.”
Trump described the Mammoth initiative just two days after returning to the White House, and promised that he would accelerate American progress in artificial intelligence and help the United States compete against China and other countries. In July, Trump announced the action of Amnesty International’s action that called for the development of rapid infrastructure and limited red tape as the United States is trying to overcome other countries in the search for advanced artificial intelligence. “We think we are in the artificial intelligence race,” said AI CZAR DAVID SACKS at the time. “We want the United States to win this race.”
Openai initially framing to Stargate as a “new company” headed by Softbank Masayoshi Son. Now, however, executive officials close to the project say it is the name of the umbrella brand used to refer to all the project’s data center projects – with the exception of those developed in partnership with Microsoft.
The main site in Abelene is owned and run by Oracle, where Openai works as a major tenant, according to executives close to the project. Sources close to the project say that Buildout, which is being managed by Crusoe Center Center, is completed by mid -2016. These sources add that these sources are already working on the Oracle cloud infrastructure and support the Openai work burden for training and inference.
