US-recognized Venezuelan opposition promises reparations for Tren de Aragua crimes
First on the fox: Edmondo Gonzalez Oreutia, the leader of the Venezuelan opposition and the recognized American president, Edmondo Gonzalez Oreutia, promised to provide “compensation” to the family of Luke Riley and other Americans affected by the crimes of the street gang.
In a letter to the Riley family, Gonzalez and leader of the opposition leader Maria Corina Machado wrote, “Life Lakin, full of capabilities and promise, was tragicly briefly briefly by an individual who should have never been allowed to cross your borders.”
Foreign Minister Marco Rubio spoke with Gonzalez and Akhavo in January, which led to confirmation that Urotia is the “legitimate president” of Venezuela. The Biden administration had previously referred to Urotia as the “elected president” before leaving the position.
In their letter, opposition leaders described Riley’s killing as “a direct result of the Nicholas Maduro regime, which has strengthened an environment in which criminal organizations such as Trin de Aragoa can be punished without punishment.”

Urrutia pledged that if it was officially installed as a president, he “will be held accountable for all those responsible for the devastation they spoke, whether inside Venezuela or internationally.”
“We intend to create a comprehensive framework for reform, both for countless Venezuelans who have been affected by these countries in Narko and also for victims abroad, including your family.”
Gonzalez also pointed out that “the vast majority of Venezuelans who sought safety in the United States are committed to supporting law and contributing to your role and community.”
“They are eager to the day when they can return to the home to reunite their families and work for free and prosperous Venezuela. We look forward to welcoming them,” they added.
“Please accept this message as a message to our deepest condolences and an official promise: Lake will never be forgotten. It will be remembered as an innocent victim of tyranny and a strong motivation for the change we are.

The Trump administration was allowed to move forward in a plan to summon the law of foreign enemies, a wartime migration law dating back to 1798, to deport Venezuelan citizens immediately, they are believed to follow a liter of Drin de Aragua. Legal battles over the deportation efforts intensified when the Federal District Court prevented this policy temporarily – prompting Trump’s allies to invite Judge James Boasberg.
According to United Nations estimates, approximately 7.7 million Veneers have fled the country over the past decade, as they escaped from the economic collapse of hyper inflation, which peaked at 130,000 % in 2018, and poverty on a large scale.

Maduro issued an arrest warrant for Jonzalez, who fled to exile in Spain last September.
Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student, was killed while running on the campus of Georgia University in February 2024. The suspect was arrested, Jose Ebara-a Venezuelan citizen who entered the United States illegally-on the charge of killing it. The murder sparked anger at the level of the country and led to new immigration legislation that Trump fell in the law shortly after he took office this year.
