X’s declining Android app installs are hurting subscription revenue

Elon Musk’s X is fighting on Android devices in terms of new installations, even during the growth of the application store downloads, according to new data from App Intelligence Appigors. In July 2025, Google Play downloads witnessed a significant decrease, as new installations decreased by 44 % on an annual basis all over the world, even with 15 % growth of iOS.

This sharp decrease in installations is the decrease in the total average of X, which leads to a 26 % decrease in total mobile phone downloads on an annual basis as of July. This is still slightly better than the previous month, when the total downloads decreased by 35 %, thanks to another sharp decrease in Android downloads, which decreased by half (49 %) almost an annual basis.

The company was not speculating to cause a decrease in Android devices to what exists that the X application on Android is known to be a painful place for the company. The recently appointed Nikita Bier product, known for the penetration in teenagers, such as GA and TBH (then selling), has alluded to that X is looking to address problems on Android, where its application is unknown, and often disrupted.

In a post on the platform, Bier announced that X was appointing the “Android Dream” to rebuild the X Android app. It also recently published that the X’s iOS has just witnessed a record week in terms of installation, and perhaps in the hope of drawing attention away from the great Android stagnation.

It is not clear where Android users go. The Bluesky competition has seen slowing growth in recent months, and its Google Play app has been withdrawn in 119,000 downloads only in July. There is no place near millions that fix x on iOS or Android every month. However, daily users in daily topics were attached to X on mobile devices, so some Android users may be calculated there.

In addition to the decrease in Google Play, X is struggling to develop its subscription revenues.

In July, X got the net revenue $ 16.9 million, a decrease from $ 18.8 million he obtained in March 2025. However, this was a simple sign of $ 16.8 million in June. (Of course, X still earns the majority of its total revenues from the ads, not excellent subscriptions in the application.)

While the demand for X on Android is partially responsible for revenue drops, X X will also lose customers to Grok. The latter now contains its independent application that attracts those who were mainly buying X subscriptions to perpetuate artificial intelligence.
