Utah bans LGBTQ+ pride flags, MAGA flags, other unapproved flags in government buildings, schools

Utah has become the first country to prohibit the transmission of LGBTQ+ PRIDE flags in government buildings and schools in a move that also prohibits political flags such as those that have the slogan of President Donald Trump, “Make America great again.”

State Governor Spencer Cox, a Republican, has announced that he allows the ban imposed on unknown science presentations to become a law without signing it. Although he still has serious concerns about this policy, the ruler chose not to reject the proposal because the Republican -controlled legislative body is likely to overcome the veto.

The prohibition will happen on May 7, when the country’s buildings or local rule are fined 500 dollars a day to display any mark other than the American flag, the Utah state flag, military flags, or a handful of others who are approved by legislators.

The new law can put the state and its largest city, Solt Lake City, unlike. The city’s buildings in the city are usually honored by the month of Braid every month by displaying flags celebrating the LGBTQ residents.

The mayor of Solt Lake City Erine Mundahal said that their lawyer is reviewing the law, but the city does not yet have details about what it will do when the law applies.

The draft laws of the law, Representative Trevur Lee and senator Dan Macai, both of them are Republicans, said the procedure aims to encourage “political neutrality” of teachers and other government employees.

The opponents argue that the law seeks to eradicate the expression of LGBTQ+ and remove power away from cities and towns that are not political with the majority of the Republican Party in the legislative body.

Cox said in a letter to legislative leaders explaining his decision that he agreed to the “inherent intention” of the draft law to make the classrooms politically neutral, but he believed that he went far in restricting local governments. The ruler also highlighted that the law, because it focuses narrowly on the flags, does not prohibit other political offers such as stickers or lighting.

“For the LGBTQ community, I know that recent legislation was difficult,” said Cox.

“Politics can sometimes be a sport of blood and I know that we have our differences,” the ruler continued. “I want you to know that I love and appreciate you and I am grateful because you are part of our country. I know that these words may be hollow for many of you, but please note that I mean them sincerely.”
