White House: Ontario’s Doug Ford is acting ‘egregious’ and ‘insulting’

The White House said on Tuesday that the Prime Minister of Ontario Doug Ford behaves “hateful” and “insulting” by threatening to cut off electricity to the Americans because of the customs tariff.

White House press secretary Caroline Levit presented the statement after Ford imposed a 25 % tariff on electricity exports from the Canadian province to the states of Michigan, New York and Minnesota on Monday. “If necessary, if the United States escalates, I will not hesitate to stop electricity completely,” he said.

In response, Trump said in fact social that he ordered the Minister of Commerce Howard Lootnick to add another 25 % tariff to all steel and aluminum next to the United States from Canada. This new tariff by 50 % will enter into force on Wednesday morning.

She continued: “He made this threat. The president saw this and had a commitment and responsibility to respond accordingly and represent the interests of the American people.”

“So it was made a decision to add a 25 % tariff, so the steel and aluminum tariff will now enter into force tomorrow at a rate of 50 %. The steel and aluminum industries have already applauded this tariff, because they know once again that American workers will lead to allowing them to export more steel made here in the United States, with the accuracy of Leavitt.”

She also said on Tuesday, “to think about what our country’s long tariff policy will do,” she said on Tuesday.

“I think many of us may have arisen in small cities. I know, at least I did it. The main street in my little city looks much worse than it was probably, before I was at least alive, my parents and grandparents told me. I know that many Americans feel the same way.”

“Let me be clear: I will not hesitate to increase this charge,” Ford said. “If necessary, if the United States escalates, I will not hesitate to stop electricity completely.
