White House reviews Smithsonian museums ahead of United States’ 250th birthday

Smithsonian museums should represent the United States in a “fair” way and photograph both good and bad for American history, according to President Donald Trump.
Trump made his comments after the White House sent a message to Smithsonian on Tuesday, in which he revealed plans to conduct a review of his museums and exhibitions in preparation for the United States’ birthday 250 in 2026.
“We want to treat museums in our country,” Trump told reporters on Thursday. “We want their museums to talk about the history of our country in a fair way, not in a wake up or racist way, which is what many of them do, not all of them, but many of them do it.”

“Our museums are obligated to represent what happened in our country over the years. Good and bad,” Trump said. “But what happened over the years in an accurate way.”
Smithsonian Fox News Digital told him that he was reviewing the Trump administration letter and would work with the White House, congress and the Council of Governor’s advanced rulers.
“The work of Smithsonian is based on a deep commitment to scientific excellence, strict research, careful and realistic presentation of history,” Smithsonian said in a statement.
Stephen Miller, the White House Deputy Chief of Staff, was weighing earlier on Thursday, saying that the leftist activists were “obscene and museum”.

“Smithsonian is supposed to be a global symbol of American power, culture and prestige,” Miller was published to X Thursday. “A place for families and children to celebrate the American history and greatness. Instead, the exhibits were seized by the left -wing activists who used Smithsonian as one platform to strike America indefinitely and rewriting / erasing our wonderful story.
“These activists may distort this beloved institution,” Miller added. “The Trump administration will be proudly and checked the national glory of America and ensures that Smithsonian is the place that inspires love and dedication again to this nation, especially among the youngest citizens.”
The White House’s initial message to Smithsonian said on Tuesday that the review would evaluate social media, the text of the exhibition and educational materials. The letter said that this will be done in order to “evaluate the tone, historical framework and align with the American proverb.”
The letter said: “This initiative aims to ensure compatibility with the president to celebrate the American exception, remove division or partisan accounts, and restore confidence in our joint cultural institutions.”

The review will focus on the following museums: the National Museum of the American History, the National Museum of Natural History, the National Museum of American African History and Culture, the National Museum of the American Indian Museum, the National Museum of Space and Space, the Smithsonian Museum of Arts, the National Photo Gallery, the Hirschorn Museum and the sculpting park.

Trump has taken previous steps to change the content that appears in Smithsonian museums and signed an executive order in March.

The artist Amy Sherrald canceled an exhibition that is scheduled to reach Smithsonian in September, which included a picture of the statue of the transgender freedom at the National Photo Gallery after Verse claimed that the exhibition distinguishes the conflict content.
