While most parents would distance themselves from their ex the moment a breakup gets messy, Chris seems to keep the door open, the lights on, and the dinner table set.

Now, she finally explains why, and her answer reveals a surprising emotional philosophy.

For years, fans have watched Kris Jenner stay surprisingly close to the men who dated or married her daughters, even as those relationships crashed and burned in the public eye.

She once maintained contact with Kanye West during his more chaotic moments, though that changed in 2020 after he referred to her as “Chris Jong Un.”

The jab, in reference to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, seemed to freeze any remaining friendship.

However, other former partners remain firmly in Chris’s circle.

She frequently appears at events with Khloe Kardashian’s ex Tristan Thompson, and has long been one of Kourtney Kardashian’s ex Scott Disick’s biggest supporters, so much so that he still appears on “The Kardashians.”

She continued: “And I have all these memories, travel, Christmas morning celebrations, birthdays, all the fun, laughter, joy, tears and children.”

For Chris, the bond lasts beyond romance. “These, in most cases, are the fathers of my grandchildren,” she noted. “And I love these men, and that love doesn’t go away when we go through difficult times with them. It doesn’t go out that way for me.”

She even added that the exes know they “can always come to me” when they need help, a sentiment that surprises fans who have seen the most dramatic twists and turns on television.

The other main reason Kris Jenner stays close to her exes is because of her grandchildren.

She asked a specific question during the interview: “What will my grandchildren think 20 years from now if their grandmother treated their father poorly?”

She expanded on her thought, saying, “Or that I wasn’t loving and kind and compassionate and forgiving? So I teach my kids forgiveness. It’s one of the biggest lessons I can teach them, to forgive someone who treats you badly and move on.”

Kris explained that she was well aware that these men had “received treatment.” [her daughters] “badly” in the past.

However, she insists the family dealt with these issues privately.

“We don’t need to talk about this anymore. It’s done. It’s been dealt with,” Chris said. “We talked about it. We all know what happened. We went through it on the show, or we went through it in our lives. Now it’s time for us to grow and mature. I love who I loved, and I don’t love what they did. No, I don’t love it. But that doesn’t make love less overnight.”

Kris Jenner’s approach becomes more interesting when one looks back at history.
