Why Netflix Canceled Chris Hemsworth’s Hulk Hogan Movie

The wrestling icon Holk Hogan left behind a legacy that represents a big problem and ranges impossible. Hogan may have been one of the most recognized characters in the professional wrestling, and he was a major player during the wrestling boom in the 1980s (his match in 1988 with the giant André Still It includes crazy American viewing records). Since then, matters have only descended with a controversial scandal after another, and its climax has reached the inappropriate law of Gocker and the racist Hugan mentality, which enhances its fall from grace in the public eye.

Hugan’s legacy as a very conflicting public figure (which has also taken some very questionable decisions that negatively affected the field of wrestling), is, for the best or worse, for Hollywood fuel with large budget. As a result, the Hulk Hogan biography with Chris Hemsworth was set to the stars where the wrestler was under development for the longest time before being canceled by Netflix last year. It was first announced in 2019, and this biography titled Todd Phillips (“Joker”, and its catastrophic follow -up, “Joker: Folie à Deux”) shortly after a period of attention, with Hughan himself as one of the producers. “I love what we were trying to do, but this will not meet for me,” Philips told Philips in 2024.

Although the details about this CV of the title are still rare, it was supposed to track the rise of promising Hugan to fame in the 1980s (unlike the most modern lawsuits/scandals) and swinging on the most urgent supporting wrestling aspects. What happened exactly here, and why was this long project suddenly canceled?

It was claimed that the biography of Chris Hemsworth Hogan Hogan was canceled for contractual reasons

Hemsworth, who is famous for THOR in Marvel Cinematic University, has repeatedly proven that his attractiveness as performed roles are only heading to rugged physical roles. However, Hogan’s biography called for an actor who can face a challenge such a role that requires physically, and Hamesworth appears to be suitable for such committed performance. The actor opened on this “crazy material” role during an interview in 2020 with the Total movie (via IGN):

“This film will be a really fun project […] As you can imagine, preparing for this role will be madly physically. I will have to put a volume more than ever, even more than I put it on a bull. There is a tone as well as physical and position. “

However, three years later, Hogan appeared on the insight with Chris Van Fleet Podcast and claimed that the project was canceled because of the “business defect” that occurred for reasons related to the contract:

“they [Netflix] A type of absenteeism in the contract. There was a batch that was not placed in a timely manner. The text was amazing. Scott Silver, who wrote the script for “Joker”, “Wall Street Wolf”, [and] “This is the best thing I wrote ever,” said a collection of other films. […] He spent about three years with this writer back and forth. When I read it, it was very dark, if this is the correct word. But perhaps what the audience might want to see. […] There was a talk that Chris Hemsworth has never played a real person before [for a biopic] Perhaps he can win an Academy Award, this thing is very strong. “

Certainly, Netflix announced the cancellation a year later, citing multiple delays due to the Covid-19 and SAG-Aftra as an official reason for itself. However, another project focuses on Hogan is currently being developed, as reports confirmed that Ben Affleck and Damon died in stock production captured on a scenario of a movie entitled “Killing Gooker” in 2024. There were no official updates about the date or launch of “Gikar’s killing”, but this may change in the near future.
