Hull FC’s Will Pryce feels that he is a better player than he was before his tangle in Australia, although admitting that some may see his step “failed”.

Price, 22, joined the Newcastle Knights of Huddersfields Giants in 2024, but he was limited to only six games in NRL before leaving on sympathetic land earlier this year. A few days later, his transfer to Hull was confirmed, and he quickly made five games in the Premier League before he was injured in the knee strings at the end of May.

“Everything about Australia, I definitely miss her. I miss her a lot,” said Price Sky Sports on Seat Podcast. “I think the lifestyle is great. I had some great people around me. Perhaps I could stay and maybe I hoped to get a few NRL games under my belt this year, and I hope the injuries are on my way, maybe I was playing.

“But when I sat and spoke to John (Cartrait, the main coach of Hal) and Richard (Miller, CEO), we only talked about their investment to be a vital part of this team.

“I think anyone can say, especially in my life now, I don’t really want to be inside and outside the team anymore. I want to try to play a week per week at the professional level and have proven that I can do this at this level.

“Obviously, I had the opportunity to stay in Newcastle. I had some opportunities to stay in Australia for a little longer. But for me, it was a matter of playing the first row, and Hull was keen to get here.”

“I feel that my expectations were most likely to play NRL games a little more than I did, but now in looking back, have you worked hard enough for their games? No.”

“The training that I have in Newcastle have trained there in Australia, do not get it here. Young children do not get it here. So going there at this age has put me in a good position.”
