Witkoff says Putin made ‘robust’ concessions in Trump Alaska meeting

The United States Special Envoy for Peace Mission Steve Wittouf claims that Russian president Vladimir Putin has taken “strong” steps towards peace during his meeting with President Donald Trump last week.

Witkoff made the statement while appearing on “Fox News Sunday” with the Shennon Bram host. The Alaska meeting official was previously met with Putin several times.

“We have agreed on more powerful security guarantees,” Witkeov said. “The Russians agreed to devote the legislative language that will witness not to try to take more lands from Ukraine after a peace agreement, as they testify that no European borders are violated.”

Witkeov also said that Trump spoke with Ukrainian President Voludeimir Zelinski and European leaders immediately after the meeting. He said that the meeting “was completely recognized as a victory.”

Bream Witkoff pressed to explain the reason for Trump Putin’s failure to stop the shooting during the meeting as well. Trump had previously said that the ceasefire was a top priority and claimed that Putin would face consequences if he did not agree to one.

He said: “The president has always talked about the ceasefire, until he achieved many different victories in this meeting and began to realize that we could talk about a peace deal. The final deal here is a peace deal, and we were talking about more powerful security guarantees than anyone imagining.”

In a statement after the invitation with Trump, the main European leaders did not address whether they preferred a peace agreement over the ceasefire.

The leaders said they “welcomed President Trump’s efforts To stop killing in Ukraine, end the war of aggression in Russia, and achieve a fair and lasting peace. “

Putin described his conversations with Trump in Alaska as “very frank”.

“Of course, we respect the position of the American administration, which sees the need for a quick end to military actions,” Putin said at the Kremlin’s follow -up meeting, adding, “We would like to move to solve all issues by peaceful means.”
