World Grand Prix Darts: Gerwyn Price ‘not scared’ of Luke Littler, says he will win quarter-final if he plays A-game | Darts News

JERWYN PRICE says he is “not afraid of anyone” and “here to win” as he prepares for his World Grand Prix quarter-final against Luke Littler on Friday night.
Price defeated Josh Rock 3-0 to reach the quarter-finals, after Littler scored the same score to beat defending champion Mike De Decker in Leicester.
Littler clinched the win with a 170-point finish but wasn’t quite as strong as he was in his opening-round win over Gian van Veen on Tuesday night.
“I really want to have a fight against Luke,” said Price, who is aiming to become a second Grand Prix champion after winning in 2020. [Littler]. I think I need to improve my scoring, but if I put him under pressure it will be a good game.
“He’s playing well – I can’t take that away from him – but I’m here to win. I’m not afraid of anyone. The key is I don’t care who I’m playing with. I’m playing to the board, not the player.”
“I know if I play my first game, I will win nine times out of 10. I think all the other players are afraid of that. [Littler] Before they join the board, as Phil Taylor did years ago.
“If I come, I will win. If I don’t come, it will be a tough match and I will probably lose.
“Luke was fantastic in his first match against Gyan [Van Veen]. He wasn’t good at his game [against Mike De Decker] So I hope he plays that bad!”
Humphries is preparing for the ‘best version’ of Menzies
Also on Friday, world number one Luke Humphries will face unseeded Scot Cameron Menzies, who beat Chris Dobbie and Rob Cross during the first two rounds of the World Grand Prix.
“Cameron is a funny player. Sometimes he’s unplayable, but sometimes he’s not there. You never really know what version of him you’re going to get, but I plan to play the best version of him,” Humphries said.
“If you think you’re going to play a bad version, you might fail. Everyone I play with, I always think I’m going to play their own game.”
Menzies quit his job as a plumber five months ago to take up darts full time.
“I never thought I would get this far, so maybe I need to start believing in myself,” said the 36-year-old, who won an 11th Players championship in April.
“I hate looking ahead so much because every time I do, I fail. But I feel like I don’t have any pressure now because I did better than I thought I would. What a difference a year makes!”
“It’s my dream to be a pro, and I’m in a lucky place. But you have a lot of young kids these days achieving amazing averages that I can only dream of at that age. I don’t know how much time I have left in this game.”

Also on Friday, Gary Anderson will face the “neglected” Dutchman Danny Nobert, a player he praises highly.
“Danny is the most overlooked player,” Anderson said. “Danny is a wild player, he works hard and if you smell him he will take it.
“He’s a classy, solid player. He may not average 115 or 116, but he’s always knocking on the door. He’s a great kid, too.”
Former champion Johnny Clayton said his run to the last eight was a “wake-up call” with Dirk van Duijvenbode waiting for him.
The Dutchman has reached the quarter-finals of the World Grand Prix for the second time since reaching the final in 2020.
“I need to do better than that tomorrow. Dirk is playing well but I know what I have to do,” said ‘The Ferret’.
“I’ve struggled and I hope this is a wake-up call. If we went back 12 to 14 months ago it would have been a dart among the masses.”
