YouTube removes approximately 34k channels linked to foreign propaganda in 2025

Google released the quarterly threat analysis group (TAG) on Monday, which showed that since the beginning of 2025, YouTube has reduced about 34,000 channels linked to Chinese or Russian propaganda campaigns or other foreign opponents.

The last three months have witnessed a significant decrease from the first three months of the year. Between April, May and June, according to the G2 signs of Google, less than 11,000 YouTube channels have been removed.

This is a decrease from about 23,000 removed between January, February and March.

“Every quarter of us shared an update on the coordinated influence campaigns that have ended on our platform, as part of our transparency reports,” YouTube spokesman told Fox News Digital. “The results are in line with the latest update with our expectations for this normal and continuous work.”

YouTube has become a great source of news for many Americans. The Reuters Institute in Oxford for the Study of Journalism (RISJ) indicated in its fourteenth annual report issued last month that, for the first time, social media has displaced TV where people consume their news.

According to the report, which included nearly 100,000 people in 48 countries, 54 % said they used social networks and video as a source of news last week.
