YouTube TV reaches ‘short-term extension’ to keep Fox channels on platform
YouTube TV says that a “short -term extension” has been reached in its contract with the contract with the Fox, which means that Google’s subscribers will not see immediate disturbances of Fox channels on the platform.
The current transmission agreement between YouTube and Fox TV was originally a deadline on Wednesday afternoon – with YouTube warning previously that networks such as Fox Sports, Business and News will become unavailable on the broadcasting platform if the two sides do not reach a new deal by 5 pm East time.
This would have left YouTube TV customers without a week 1 of some university football games and other FOX broadcasting programs. But shortly after the arrival of 5 pm East time on Wednesday, YouTube said it was able to “prevent turmoil” as it continues to work for a new agreement.
“We are committed to the invitation on behalf of our subscribers and we are working for a fair deal and we will keep you on a permanent knowledge of our progress,” YouTube said in a brief update that announces the extension.
A Fox spokesman had no addition, but he confirmed that the broadcast giant had agreed to extend in the short term. It was not immediately clear how long the extension will be.
In a statement earlier on Wednesday, Fox said that “he is disappointed that Google is constantly taking advantage of its huge influence by proposing a non -step -by -market terms.” Fox also directed subscribers to a site called Keepfox.com for more information and to call on YouTube to reach an agreement.
In addition to Fox Sports, Business and News, Keepfox.com notes that YouTube TV may not carry FS1 and the ten major network (owned by Fox owned by the majority) if a deal is not reached.
Meanwhile, in the post blog earlier this week, YouTube said that Fox was “asking much higher payments than the partners who receive similar content offers.” The company added that it hopes to reach a “fair deal for both sides” without “passing additional costs for our subscribers.”
If the Fox content is not available on YouTube TV “for a long period of time”, YouTube also indicated that it will provide members with a $ 10 credit. The cost of the basic plan for YouTube TV – which is currently characterized by access to more than 100 live channels – $ 82.99 per month.
Brendan Car, Chairman of the Federal Communications Committee, charged the conflict leading to the deadline on Wednesday – while it appears to target Google in particular. He called on the technology company to “accomplish a deal” in a post on social media.

From sporting events to prizes, live programming that was increasingly broadcasting entered the world of broadcast over the years – where more and more consumers give up from traditional cable or satellite subscriptions to the content that can connect to the Internet. But the renewal of transportation agreements can also mean tense contract negotiations – which sometimes leads to service disorders.
YouTube TV was on this way before. In 2021, TV subscribers on YouTube for a short period of access to all Disney content on the platform, including networks like ESPN and local ABC stations, after the collapse of the contract between the two companies. The power outage continued less than two days, with companies eventually reaching an agreement.
Besides the deals with YouTube TV and others, Fox launched its broadcasting platform last week. “Fox One”, which is $ 19.99 a month.
