Biblical seven-day week reveals perfect balance of work and rest, studies confirm

Most time units depend on nature. Today is one rotation of the Earth. A month is the orbit of the moon. General is the path of the Earth around the sun.
But a week? There is no natural explanation for that. (See the video at the top of this article.)
For this reason, old cultures set the week in completely different ways: four days in West Africa, 10 in Egypt, 15 in China.

In the thirties of the twentieth century, the Soviets tried to eliminate the seven-day week-to be replaced first for a period of four days, then five days, “to facilitate the struggle to eliminate religion.”
They were at least right in the source. The week comes seven days directly from the Bible.

This short verse carries a deep vision. First, it applies to everyone. Second, the work is treated not as necessary, but as a value.
The Torah does not say, “Work must be done,” but you will work. The work itself is important regardless of the result.
This work does not need to pay. Certainly volunteering and education for children as long as the activity requires consistency and fruit.

The second insight in Joseph’s life, the only person in the Bible, can be seen “Success” – twice. This happened once as a slave, and once as a prisoner – and throughout the time with God, along with his side, which he was constantly cited (even, unlike his father, Jacob, Jaddah, Abraham, he did not speak to God).
Still, work should stop.
The seventh day, Saturday, is not just a break. It is a weekly reset, a day for gathering, thinking and re -calling.

For most of the twentieth century, the work was considered an unfortunate financial necessity to escape.
We see this in popular music, such as “Height Ho”, “9 to 5” and “Take care of business” – all songs on how to work.

The famous commercial ads in the 1980s and 1990s depicted the ideal life as one of the leisure time: Polo play, luxury dogs load in a car and diving from a yacht in the ocean.
Then, around 2000, everything turned. Suddenly, the preoccupation has become a new honor badge.
A new site entered the dictionary – that people are “crazy,”.
This strange expression has become so popular that it has become the ideal humble.

It even took a brief version of those who were very busy to say all the four sections – this “crazy” schedule.
It does not work as an extremist. Entertainment defenders need to understand what recent studies have shown again and again: Happiness in work is the key to happiness in life.
This is partly because we spend most of our time at work, and it is difficult to enjoy life if we hate how we spend most of our working hours.

Contemporary research has shown that we can enjoy and find meaning in any job as long as we fly properly. This is called “job formulation”.

Several studies have found that there is a productive ceiling.
The first research on this issue was conducted by the British Ministry of Munitions, which established a committee in 1915 to evaluate the work that led to the preparation of soldiers in the Great War. They concluded that the British war effort requires giving Saturday – in order for workers to produce more.
The report said, in part, that “the evidence is conclusive that Sunday’s work, by depriving the worker in his weekly comfort, does not provide him with any sufficient opportunity to recover from fatigue … The work does not result for a period of seven days except for six days production and … discounts on Sunday did not include any noticeable loss of production.”

A century after a century, John Pincoville, a professor at Stanford, analyzed data using modern tools.
He decided that production is related to work hours for the first 49 hours a week.
The production rate of watches slows 50 to 55.

However, there was no increase in production from 56 to 70 watches. The economist concluded, in reviewing PENCAVEL, “that an additional 14 hours were a waste of time.”
Thus, we now have the number of what we called “productivity ceiling”: it is 55 hours a week.

“Good life is not all leisure or all work.”
The observer can work 10 hours a day for five days a week.
He can not really work half a day except in sixth place, because it needs to be prepared for Saturday-having a 55-hour work week.

So God was right.
Good life is not all free time or all work.
It is six days of meaningful work, followed by the seventh day of the holy rest.
