A dramatic video shows Zahran Mamdani being ejected from a New York City square after an angry protester accused him of anti-Semitism and demanded that he disavow Hezbollah and Islamic law.
In the video shared on X, the Democratic socialist candidate for mayor of New York City is seen surrounded in Manhattan’s Foley Square on Friday as protesters shout and beat drums.
Security agents lead him across the square toward a waiting car as a man approaches him, shouting: “I condemn Hezbollah! I condemn Sharia!”

Protesters can be heard calling Mamdani an “anti-Semite” and refusing to back down as he follows him.
When Mamdani’s security intervenes, they form a protective barrier to guide him to the car, which then leaves the square. A protester carrying a flag was seen pushing towards what looked like another member of the security team near the car.
Mamdani was speaking in Foley Square to show solidarity with New York Attorney General Letitia James, who was indicted this week on charges of mortgage fraud related to a property she owns in Virginia.
Al-Mamdani has been repeatedly pushed to disavow Hezbollah and condemn slogans such as “globalization of the uprising.”

In an appearance on “Meet the Press” in June 2025, Mamdani refused to do so outright, saying that policing language was not the role of a public official, though he emphasized his opposition to incitement to violence and anti-Semitism.
Mamdani spoke about the October 7, 2023 terrorist attacks in Israel on Tuesday, issuing a statement in memory of the Israeli victims and hostages still held by Hamas.
“Two years ago, Hamas committed a horrific war crime, killing more than 1,100 Israelis and kidnapping 250 others,” Mamdani said. “I mourn these lives and pray for the safe return of every hostage still held and for every family whose lives have been torn apart by these atrocities.”
Mamdani said: “The death toll now far exceeds 67,000, as the Israeli army bombs homes, hospitals, and schools, turning them into rubble.”
New Yorkers skeptical after Zahran Mamdani distances himself from ‘globalization of uprising’ phrase
“Every day in Gaza has become a place where grief no longer has any language. I mourn for these lives and pray for the shattered families.”
Mamdani’s statement saw the Israeli Foreign Ministry (IFM) republish it on the X website, where it accused him of “acting as a mouthpiece for Hamas propaganda”.

“By repeating Hamas’s lies, he justifies terrorism and normalizes anti-Semitism. He only stands with Jews when they are dead. It is shameful,” the IFM post said.
Mamdani’s press office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
