Spurs open talks to sign “sensational” new Mohammed Kudus for Frank
The coffee cup portal has added another layer to Thomas Frank’s stifling spell at Tottenham Hotspur. There’s a man whose facial lines have deepened over the past six months and whose team are flattered to cheat in the Premier League.
Tottenham overcame a miserable 2024/25 campaign with a triumphant campaign in the Europa League, knocking out Manchester United in the final, a grueling and cagey encounter that was an eyesore for neutrals.
Tottenham didn’t care. This is often the way to go in finals. They ended a long drought, opening the way to the Champions League. However, Ange Postecoglou, the architect of the success, was quickly dismissed, followed out the door by Daniel Levy, who had pulled that lever.
Now, Brennan Johnson has been sold to Crystal Palace for £35m. The Welsh winger scored the winner in Bilbao, but his struggles were mirrored by the wider Spurs’ struggles under Frank’s wing.
Tottenham opens talks to replace Johnson
Tottenham bid farewell to Johnson before the transfer market boomed, and although he had some high results below N17, this season has been a disaster on an individual level, and change was necessary for all parties.
Mohamed Kudus’ injury, which will keep the Ghanaian out of action until April, was an unexpected setback. The Lilywhites’ co-leader is considered unique and dangerous, and the ENIC group now knows that the need for winter reinforcements has been highlighted.
Perhaps that’s why inquiries have been made regarding Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Mane. This is according to TEAMtalk, which has confirmed that the 18-year-old has been the subject of a number of phone calls from suitors in the Premier League following his confirmed appearances in recent weeks. Arsenal and Chelsea were also named.
Wolves have no intention of selling their most prized possession this month, but Rob Edwards’ bottom-placed side are certainly doomed, and a sale could provide some financial wiggle room as they plot a comeback from the Championship next season.
Why is Matthew Mane ideal for Tottenham?
It is important not to overburden emerging talent in the Premier League. But then, as Sir Matt Busby once said, “If you’re good enough, you’re old enough.”
Mine is big enough. With this name, the wide, cheerful and direct forward has a good chance of making it big. Praised by manager Edwards for his “sensational” goal in the recent draw against Everton at Hill Dickinson, Mane is playing without fear and is developing a keen sense in front of goal.
With just four league appearances to his name, this is perhaps a bit premature, but it shows something of his skill and self-belief that he is shining through for such an at-risk side, which has been crucial to their mini-renaissance in recent weeks.
According to Sofascore, Mane has won five matches against Everton and the thrashing of West Ham United before that. The Old Gold’s old manager, Vitor Pereira, described him as a “special” talent at the start of the season, and that is now starting to come true.
Mane said after the win over the Hammers that he is “not afraid of anything”, and it shows. He’s raw, yes, but there’s something really exciting about watching him race up the pitch and into the danger zone. In this, he is not very different from Kudus.
Kudos joined the club from West Ham this summer, for a fee of £55m. It’s not perfect, but it’s good. The 24-year-old provided a new kind of threat this year, a source of entertainment and a creative spark in a dark room.

With the breakaway player set to be sidelined for the better part of the campaign, it could be worth throwing the kitchen sink at Wolves’ rising star.
Mane has already shown that he has what it takes to become one of the most dangerous wingers in the league, and after the recent spate of events (and against the backdrop of pre-existing attacking issues), Spurs could do just that with his signature.
