Gov. Youngkin proposes withholding state funding from Virginia’s ‘sanctuary cities’

Virginia governor of Glenn Yongen, a Republican, threatens to withhold state financing from local governments if they do not cooperate with federal immigration enforcement officials.

The proposal comes at a time when the ruler seeks to eliminate “resort cities” in the Commonwealth, which are areas that choose to protect migrants without legal status instead of cooperating with federal officials to impose the immigration law.

Youngkin put for the first time the idea of blocking financing in December. The ruler now suggested this as an amendment to the state budget approved by the General Assembly, according to Fox 5 DC.

The proposal may ensure that the state financing does not go to the provinces or cities that have the policies of the “city of resort”, such as ignoring the requests of detainees through the application of immigration and enforcement of customs, according to the perpetrator.

The ruler was particularly critical of the provinces run by Democrats in North Virginia, including Verfax. He said that there should be full cooperation on enforcement of immigration to continue receiving funding.

“This is not a decision for people to take locally,” he said, according to Fox 5 DC. “This is in order to improve all our safety. We are not a state of resort, and therefore we do not support the areas where the cities of the haven are declared.”

The Chairman of the Fairfax Supervisors Council, Jeff McKay, Fox 5 DC, told the Youngkin plan that will effectively lead to “Defund the Police”, where he claims that Fairfax is not a “city of haven” and confirms that officials follow all legal detainees.

“In the end, what he says, if you do not agree with his non -local definition of” the city of the sanctuary “, this may affect your law enforcement agency, and he does this because he claims that a great crime occurs.”
