Former Sen. Bob Mendendez, angling for a pardon for his 11-year prison sentence, says he hopes Trump ‘cleans up the cesspool and restores the integrity to the system’

New York (AP)-Former American Senator Bob Menendes arrived at a federal prison on Tuesday to start spending 11 years to accept bribes of gold, criticism and acting as a worker in Egypt. The New Jersey Democrat for crimes was mocked as “Barbob Gold”, according to his lawyer.

The Federal Prisons Office confirmed that Mindez was in detention at the Federal Correctional Corporation, Shuelkel in Minersville, Pennsylvania. The attachment contains a medium security prison and the minimum security prison camp. Looking at the white collar nature of its crimes, it is likely that it ends up in the camp.

The prison is about 118 miles (190 km) west of New York City. It is home to about 1,200 prisoners, including former organized crime head in York City, James Conan and former fuel owner Gormet Singh Dena, which the New York Post called “Gotai Stations Gas” for its violent methods.

Manendez, 71, keeps his innocence. Last week, the Federal Appeal Court rejected its recent efforts to stay free on bail while fighting to condemn the bribe. A committee of three judges in the Court of Appeal in the second American district rejected his suggestion on bail.

Mindez told a judge in January: “I am far from an ideal man.

It seems that MENNDEZ is getting more hunting to pardon President Donald Trump, in line with Republicans’ criticism of the judicial system, especially in New York City.

“This process is political and is damaged for the nucleus. I hope that President Trump will clean Cyspel and restore integrity to the regime,” Mendes told reporters after he issued his ruling in January.

In the jobs on Tuesday on the X social platform that was later deleted, Manendez criticized the prosecutor as political motives and opposes his views on foreign policy and Trump praised because of its “rise above the fare”.

Mindez resigned last year after being convicted of selling his influence to bribes. FBI agents found $ 480,000 in cash at his home, some are stuffed inside shoes and jacket pockets, along with gold bars worth $ 150,000 and a convertible luxury in the garage.

On the other hand, the prosecutors said that Mindeys has made corrupt preferences for business owners in New Jersey, including protecting them from criminal investigations, assisting commercial deals with foreign powers and meeting with Egyptian intelligence officials before assisting Egypt in reaching $ 300 million in US military aid.

Menendes, who chaired the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, resigned a month after his conviction. It has been in the Senate since 2006.

Business owners were also convicted last year with Mindez.

His wife, Nadine Menendes, led to a conviction in April in cooperation with her husband to accept bribes from business owners. It is scheduled to be sentenced to September 11.

In his rule, Minands’s lawyers described how the Cuban immigrant’s son set out of poverty to become a “example of the American dream” – rising from the mayor of Union City, New Jersey, to decades in congress – before his “condemnation” made it a national line.

“Despite his contracts from service, he is now known on a larger scale as Gold Bar Bob,” Defense lawyer Adam Fall told the judge.
