Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Destiny prepares for maiden voyage Thursday

Disney Cruise Line’s seventh ship is preparing to set sail on its maiden voyage on Thursday.

Disney Destiny’s christening was held Monday at Port Everglades Homeport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It included a longer than 10-minute display of drones.

“The Disney Cruise Line team, along with the Disney Imagineers, have invested years of their experience, creativity and dedication into this beautiful ship,” Joe Schott, president of Disney Signature Experiences, said in a statement. “They have created something truly amazing.”

The newest ship in the fleet features heroes and villains from Disney, Pixar, and Marvel movies.

During its inaugural season, Disney Destiny will sail four- and five-night cruises to the Bahamas and the Western Caribbean.

On board, guests will be able to experience dining at rotating Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King, Worlds of Marvel, and 1,923 restaurants.

All-you-can-eat options are available at Marceline Market, named after Walt Disney’s hometown in Missouri, for breakfast and lunch. The Mickey & Friends of Foods Festival features BBQ, Mexican, pizza, a grill bar and desserts at select times throughout the day.

While there’s plenty for kids to do on board — 10 pools and water play areas, including AquaMouse — adults also enjoy exclusive dining, lounge and deck options.

Disney Cruise Line is undergoing a massive expansion, and plans to have 13 ships in the fleet by 2031. The next launch will be Disney Adventure, with its home port in Singapore in March 2026.
